Questo secondo incontro dedicato a Roma religiosa (il primo si è svolto nel 2008 ed è stato pubblicato nell’Archivio della Società Romana di Storia Patria, 132) si pone l’obiettivo di fare il punto sul rapporto tra la società romana e il monachesimo cittadino. Come è noto, l’essere l’Urbe centro della Cristianità e sede del Papato ha “nascosto” per un lungo tempo la ricchezza della vita religiosa cittadina. In the last decades there has been a significant increase in the use of environmental studies within urban archaeological contexts. An array of lines of research and of practice has emerged, primarily on the basis of human, animal and plant remains, focusing on subsistence, trading, social status, health, hygiene, craft production and pollution. There is a growing involvement of geoarchaeologists, deciphering complex site stratigraphies and explaining the spatial functioning of urban sites.
